China Anxi Tieguanyin Oolong Tea
As a tea tree variety, Tieguanyin is very suitable for making Oolong Tea, and Tieguanyin Oolong Tea is the most representative in China.
Tieguanyin is the name of the Chinese goddess of compassion. Legend has it that 300 years ago, an infectious disease occurred in Anxi, during which the goddess Tieguanyin led the sick people to find a tea tree, instructed the patients to drink and cured the disease. For the sake of gratitude, people named the tea after goddess Tieguanyin.
It is believed that Tieguanyin tea is good for health, especially for the skin and digestion, so it soon spread in China and became the most representative tea in China.
Tieguanyin entered Taiwan with immigrants in the 18th century, so Taiwan also produces Tieguanyin Oolong Tea apart from Anxi.
How to brew Tieguanyin
90-95ºC (194-205ºF) is the best water temperature for brewing Tieguanyin tea. Mountain spring or mineral water is optimal. Do not use pure water or distilled water.
- Serve hot water into the teapot to preheat, and then pour the hot water out. A teapot without preheating will cause the brewing water temperature to drop fast, thus affecting the taste of the tea.
- Put in 6g Tieguanyin tea and serve 100ml hot water.
- Cover the tea cover and brew for 2 minutes.
- Serve the tea into the cup to enjoy Tieguanyin tea.
