How to steeping oolong tea
Oolong tea has many species, including Dong Ding Oolong tea, Oolong green tea, Pouchong oolong tea, Dongfang Meiren tea, different brewing methods will have different tastes and features. You can adjust water temperature, the quantity of tea, steeping time according to your own preferences, the following are the principles to brew oolong tea:
Preparation
Water:the best is spring water or well water, mineral water can also be used, if there’s no such kind of water, then tap water is also ok. but do not use the distilled water and pure water, because the brewed tea will lose taste.
Water temperature:Dong Ding Oolong tea/high mountain oolong tea steeping water temperature is 95℃~100℃. Pouchong oolong tea is 90℃~100℃, Dongfang Meiren tea is 80℃~90℃, Oolong Green Tea is 85℃~95℃.
Steeping time:6 grams oolong tea for a 150ml teapot, the steeping time is about 90~120s, there has no standard steeping time, so you can adjust according to your preferences.
Steep oolong tea
- Boil water: boil water to 100ºC.
- Warm the teapot: clean the tea pot and cup with boiling water. The boiling water can clean the tea set and raise the temperature of teapot (if temperature of teapot is low, tea temperature will drop down, and quality of tea will be impacted by low temperature).
- Setting tea: put 6gm oolong tea into the teapot.
- Setting water: pour hot water into teapot.
- Steeping: steep tea for 90s~120s, and then pour the brewed tea into another teapot to drink.
- Brew tea again: oolong tea can be brewed for 4~6 times, and increase 30s per infusion. For example, the second time is for 120s~150s.
Drink oolong tea
Taiwan oolong tea has sweet taste with natural flowers flavor, you can smell before drink, and then drink slowly and carefully. You can feel the tea’s natural flavor through your tongue. If the taste of tea is too heavy or too light, you can adjust the steeping time, and find the best standard for yourself.
