How to Brew Tieguanyin Tea

Tieguanyin tea belongs to oolong tea, which is suited to be brewed with porcelain or pottery tea sets, and amount of tea should be one-fifth of the pot, the water temperature should between 90 and 95 degree. The detailed method to brew Tieguanyin tea is as follows:

Preparation

Water:water temperature is between 90 and 95 degree. Spring water, well water is the best. If there’s no such kind of water, then tap water or mineral water is also ok, but do not use the distilled water and pure water.

Tea set:Porcelain teapot or clay jug is the best, you can use the common mug instead of the best pot.

The amount of tea:about one-fifth of the pot.

Order for brewing Pouchong tea 

  1. Boil the water first and then clean the tea pot and cup with boiling water, on the one hand, clean the tea set, and on the other hand, boiling water can raise the temperature of teapot to avoid tea temperature dropping too fast because of cold teapot.
  2. Put tea into the pot: put some Tieguanyin tea into teapot, the amount of tea is about one-fifth of teapot’s volume.
  3. Infuse tea: pour hot water into teapot, and pour it out at once which is used for cleaning up dust and impurity of tealeaves. Then, pour some hot water to brew tea for 30s to drink.
  4. Brewing frequency and time: Tieguanyin tea can be infused for 5 times, the first time lasts for 30s, and then increase10s per infusion. You can adjust the time of brewing according to your own preferences. If you like mild taste, reduce brewing time, if not, increase brewing time.

You can add juice or honey to flavor Tieguanyin tea, except normal brewing method, the tea with ice cake is good to drink as well.
